Social Services
 
DC's Department of Human Services allows DC residents to search for local and national social services online and specializes in basic needs referrals for food, shelter, financial assistance, and healthcare.
 
The DC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy provides resources and information to help reduce the rate of teen pregnancy in the District. The site encourages parents and teens to communicate and work together to prevent teen pregnancy.
 
DC Healthy Families provides free health insurance to low-income families with children under 19, adolescents under 19 who live alone, and pregnant women.
 
DCPS provides a number of services to support its educational mission, including childcare before and after school, food services,  guidance and counseling, help for English language learners, reduced price Metro fares, and more. Some services are available only at particular schools.
 
The DC Women Infants and Children program provides pregnant mothers, new mothers, infants, and children up to age five with breastfeeding promotion and support, supplemental food, and nutrition education.
