Ballou STAY (Schools to Aid Youth), a program within Ballou High School, is designed for students 18 and older. The program offers classes from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm. Ballou's vocational classes include cosmetology, barbering, auto mechanics, computer repair, childcare, and culinary arts. Call (202) 645-3390 for more information.
The DC Alternative Academy offers students academic training at the elementary, middle, and high school levels as well as individualized psycho-social services to youth to return to mainstream education
The Luke Moore Academy provides students 16 to 23 years old an opportunity to receive their General Educational Development (GED) certificate. The academy also offers mentoring and counseling programs and an alternative academic setting. For more information, call (202) 576-7005.
M.M. Washington offers practical training and education for various careers: nursing, dental assistance, medical records and technology, culinary arts, emergency medical services, home health care, and education.
