Child Development Resources

The resources below provide ideas to protect children and enhance their development intellectually, physically, and emotionally at home and outside of it. Some sites also have Spanish translations.

StoryPlace, "the ultimate digital children's library," offers online stories, activities, and reading resources for pre- and elementary-school children and their parents.  This site also offers a Spanish version.

The Children's Health Medical Library  provides information on prenatal care through young adulthood—common childhood ailments, child-raising topics, behavioral and physical indications of abuse or other hidden problems, and where to get help.

The Stimulating Environments page, part of the Bright Futures Tool for Families series, suggests ways to create a stimulating environment for your baby or young child and to evaluate other settings where your baby or young child spends time.

This site offers online crafts, drawing and coloring, games, stories, and video activities based on preschool children's television programs. The visually-oriented pages can be used by preschoolers and have multi-lingual versions, including Spanish .
